Esther 4:14b
"Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"
Esther 4:14b
In the book of Esther, the name of God is never mentioned. But Mordechai points to Him. Through this short statement, Mordechai is telling Esther (and us) that God has a plan. He is working, even though we don't see it every day.
Mordechai tells Esther to go to the king and talk to him about Haman’s evil plans. Haman was a man who wanted to kill all the Jews, and he almost succeeded. Esther went to the king and talked to him about what had happened. God saved His people through Esther and Mordechai. Haman was executed for his evil deeds and Israel lived.
This God is still the same. He is still working, even when we can't always see it clearly. Nothing in this world happens without His knowledge.
John 5:17: "But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.”"
Matthew 10:29-30: "Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered."
What about sin? Every sin comes from this world, not from God. God knows that we sin, but it is not His will. He is holy and hates sin.
1 John 2:16: "For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world."
James 1:13-15: "Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death."
But God is merciful, and He wants to save us through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. And even when we suffer or face persecution for His name, God gives us this promise:
Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."
Today's lesson: God is still in control. Even when we fall short, He never does. He is always the same. He who is and who was and who is to come (Revelation 1:4). He is working. Yesterday, today and tomorrow.
