1 Peter 5:8
"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant: stay focused, and be ready to go to battle. Always wear the whole armor of God.
Ephesians 6:11: "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil."
The devil is our adversary. He wants to destroy us. He will oppose us just like he did with Job. But just like in the times of Job, he will be defeated.
The devil walks about like a roaring lion: when a lion is hungry, he sneaks upon his target. Just before he attacks, he takes a leap. He roars. The devil is like a lion. He wants to devour us.
But even when the devil is going around attacking us, he is not in control.
1 Peter 5:10-11: "Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen."
Today's lesson: God is in control. He will not let the devil win. The enemy has already been defeated. Jesus won the battle on Calvary. So when the devil is attacking you, be sober and trust God. Put on the whole armor of God and resist his temptations.
